SeaWorld and Southwest Take Partnership to New Heights

From Shamu-themed aircrafts and live penguin visits on board flights, the partnership between SeaWorld and Southwest Airlines has evolved over 25 years. The two companies have even teamed together to help animals in need.

Now the relationship is soaring to new heights with the recent launch of the airline’s newest specialty aircraft, Penguin One – a Boeing 737-700 co-branded with images of SeaWorld’s iconic animals – penguins.

Amid much fanfare, Penguin One was revealed at a ceremony at Orlando International Airport with SeaWorld’s animal ambassadors Pete and Penny Penguin, SeaWorld and Southwest team members, community members, and executives.

The ceremony included the ceremonial christening which was performed by SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment President and CEO Jim Atchison and Southwest Airlines Chairman, President and CEO Gary Kelly performed the traditional christening of the aircraft.

The celebration went coast-to-coast as the plane, filled with SeaWorld and Southwest team members, then departed for festivities in San Antonio and San Diego.
