I cannot believe that my daily job is an adventure -- promoting Howl-O-Scream! It’s challenging to decide the best part of my job – I’m a part of an incredible contemporary marketing team; we go to amazing venues to promote the event, and we get to meet so many interesting people.
Howl-O-Scream is Busch Garden’s annual Halloween event that takes place during selected weekends in September and October. The event includes diverse entertainment – from haunted houses and scare zones to shows and concerts. Our rides are open during this event, enabling guests to receive the Busch Gardens thrill they love.
College football games, bar-hops from Tampa to Gainesville, Rays games and concerts -- anywhere we go as a team, we support our promotions with free give-a-ways and marketing materials. Trained and fully equipped, we simultaneously deliver a plethora of Howl-O-Scream knowledge, quick wit and smiles.
Some jobs I have held in the past have been dull or monotonous. There is nothing dull about Howl-O-Scream. Each day our tight-knit team loads up our company vehicles with set-up materials and marketing collateral, bracing ourselves for the rush of the crowds. You can really feel the adrenaline pumping through our group. We’ve generated a true bond, I think; it’s far beyond what typical coworkers have.
So what’s my favorite part of promoting of Busch Gardens’ Howl-O-Scream? It has to be the people I meet during these outings that rise above. Especially when we bring along props, like Sylvie’s wicked guitar. Fans of all ages play, tune, teach, or just imagine themselves as the rock-star of this year’s Howl-O-Scream. It’s a great way to pique their interest about the event.
