During the recent International Coastal Cleanup, hundreds of volunteers from SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment joined together to pick up more than 500 pounds of trash from beaches and waterways across the U.S.

In Florida, SeaWorld Orlando volunteers combed the Canaveral National Seashore and local canals.

In California, SeaWorld San Diego volunteers picked up trash along Mission Bay.

During the International Coastal Cleanup this Saturday, Sept. 25, hundreds of employees from the 10 parks of SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment will join volunteers from around the world to tackle one of the most pervasive pollution problems threatening the world’s oceans, lakes and rivers: trash.

Park cleanup events are planned in Florida, Virginia, Texas and California.

Amidst the latest round of internet rumors as to what Busch Gardens Tampa Bay may be building, the adventure park launched the next chapter in a teaser campaign that began early this summer.

In just four months, more than $1 million has been pledged to wildlife conservation efforts around the world thanks to vacationing families participating in the new “SeaWorld Cares” program.

The program was launched in April and allowed families to receive a discounted child ticket and have the entire admission price donated to wildlife conservation. Families participating in the program are helping save polar bears in the Arctic, inspiring kids to spend more time outdoors, protecting coral reefs and supporting wildlife projects worldwide. 

It is with great sadness that SeaWorld San Diego announces that Sumar, a 12-year-old male killer whale, died at approximately 1:45 p.m. today (Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010). The exact cause of death will not be known until the results of a necropsy are complete. The entire SeaWorld team is mourning his the loss.
