Yesterday, SeaWorld Orlando's Animal Rescue Team successfully rescued a female endangered manatee from the waters of the National Canaveral Seashore near New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

SeaWorld Orlando's Animal Rescue Team came to the aid of an endangered male manatee that had its left pectoral flipper entangled in a crab trap line. After successfully untangling the animal's appendage, rescuers immediately returned the 6½-foot sea cow back into the waters of Palm Bay, FL.

This week, SeaWorld Orlando's Animal Rescue Team successfully rescued a manatee from a canal in Satellite Beach, FL.

Manatees are a Girl’s Best Friend
In 2000, a simple photo of an injured manatee and a veterinarian featured in a hometown newspaper captured the attention and awe of an 8-year-old girl in Colleyville, TX. The girl was Stephanie Cohen and the veterinarian was Dr. Scott Gearhart from SeaWorld Orlando.

SeaWorld Returns Manatee Back To Florida Waters
On April 6, the SeaWorld Orlando Animal Rescue Team returned its eighth manatee back into Florida waters as followers on Twitter followed along. For the first time, SeaWorld live tweeted updates during the successful release via @seaworld_parks.
