The Beginning of a “Dolphin Tale”: SeaWorld’s Role in Rescuing Winter

Several SeaWorld fans have noticed historical footage of our rescue team in action in “Dolphin Tale,” and have asked what role SeaWorld played in the rescue of Winter. This is the story of the passion and expertise displayed by the many marine mammal experts credited with helping this remarkable animal.

A fisherman spotted the animal, her tail severely injured by a crab trap line, in the Mosquito Lagoon on Florida’s east coast.

The Dawn Brancheau Foundation Hosts “DREAM BIG 5K” at SeaWorld Orlando

On April 16 The Dawn Brancheau Foundation is hosting the Inaugural “Dream Big 5K” at SeaWorld Orlando. The event also includes a one-mile family walk and a food collection drive. All food contributions and a portion of the race proceeds will benefit the Central Florida Children’s Home. SeaWorld Returns Endangered Sea Turtles Back To Their Homes Along Florida's East Coast

SeaWorld returned three endangered sea turtles - a Kemp's Ridley and two greens - back to nature after a successful recovery stay at the park's Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Center. All three turtles were rescued during this winter's “cold-stunned” event when more than 300 hundred chilled turtles wound up at SeaWorld due to the unexpectedly cold and extended winter in the southeastern United States. SeaWorld has released more than 230 of the reptilian refugees back into Florida waters.
